It is our collective and individual responsibility to preserve and tend to the world in which we all live.

Accelerate 2K18 was flagged off by our chief guest, the renowned  Kannada actress Ms. Roopika on Saturday, 17th November. After weeks of hard work and dedication, we have successfully completed the second edition of ‘Accelerate 2K18 – Run for a cleaner, greener Bangalore’. The response received was truly heartwarming and encouraging primarily to the students of Grade 11 who organized and managed the marathon. With over 1,500 runners, we believe that we’ve moved one step closer to our objective of sensitizing society and inculcating a sense of civic responsibility amongst the citizens of Bangalore. Taking inspiration from The Ugly Indian, we have started our own Spot Fixing Drive to clear up, clean up and claim public areas within a 5 km radius of our school, Kalyan Nagar.

All proceeds raised from this initiative will go towards identifying spots(50,000 square feet of area) which requires cleaning.  A part of the proceeds will also be used to plant 5,000 saplings across the city. It will be cleaned and maintained by the students of CMR National Public School. The underlying idea is based on ‘The Broken Window Theory’, that is, if a place is dirty, then one would have a tendency to litter more, however, if a place is neat and tidy, we would hesitate to litter that place again. This will allow the citizens of Bangalore to reclaim their public spaces.

A marathon for everybody!

The marathon conducted spanned over parts of Kalyan Nagar, HRBR Layout and Banaswadi. It commenced at 5 am with a refreshing Zumba and warm-up sessions. The 10K, 5K and 2K was flagged off at 6:00 am, 6:15 am and 6:45 am consecutive. The charged up atmosphere and the enthusiasm of the participants was palpable, young and old alike

Saplings distributed to all participants at the end of the race, as a pledge to make our Bengaluru greener

It is a phenomenal exposure for my children and instills social responsibility at a young age. It also has various health benefits while simultaneously being fun and exciting.
Mr Krishna Prasad, a parent at CMR National Public School

Studying for boards can be stressful and the marathon helped me distract my mind from my studies. I think that it was a great initiative taken up by the school and I hope to continue this great legacy.
Esha, Grade 10 student

We would like to thank our sponsors  HealthifyMe, Acer, Living Walls, InHouse burger, Indian Institute of Hardware, Acer, Rashi Diagnostics, North Bangalore Hospital and BOSH Hospital who extended their support towards this cause.  We extend our appreciation to all the participants and students for their relentless effort for a noble cause.
