To the one awesome Watch party!

Review 2 drained all of us and we needed something extra to cheer us up.

My class 5D and I are looking forward to the events in Reading week, as there were a little too many academics from the past two weeks.

The class was very excited to experience something fun during the morning meeting today. I have made sure to keep the watch party theme a secret.

As usual, we all joined the morning meeting, shared a few good things about the week, wished birthdays for our classmates and we were much ready to experience something new and interesting.

Before our watch party, I have invited students to share their joy in reading books. To my surprise, many students were fond of reading books like adventures, biographies, etc. They shared the book they like and where to buy or rent the books.

We all together watched two videos related to reading books. One video was a story about a girl named Meena, who hates books even though her parents love to read. Books are everywhere in Meena’s house, in cupboards, drawers, and even piled up on the stairs. Still, she refuses to even open one up. But when her cat Max accidentally knocks down a huge stack, pandemonium ensues and nothing is ever the same again.

This video made students agree upon how books influence their personality and behavior. Few also shared how they got motivated by the stories they read.

Later we watched one more video on a young boy who goes to a library and discovers, in books and their words, a universe that will follow him until the end of his life. With this story students shared a thought that “Reading sharpens our mind and increases our level of understanding of different things, it helps to relieve our stress and uncertainty”.

The introduction to tablets, smartphones, etc has badly impacted our habits. Apart from other impacts, the culture of book reading is dying fast. Hearing what my students say, I have been motivated to make reading a hobby and explore more every day.

We truly believe that books help enrich our minds with knowledge, experience, and understanding. As it is said: “ The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Seuss.

This watch party made us realise our fondness for reading books and with this, we wish to keep growing every day with new information and knowledge.
