THE DAY OF BROTHERHOOD

“The Olympic Movement gives the world an ideal which reckons with the reality of life, and includes a possibility to guide this reality toward the great Olympic Idea.”

–   Pierre de Coubertin- French Historian

The International Olympic Day dawned on the 23rd of June 2021. The students of CMR decided to celebrate the peace and unity this day stands for with each of their classes bright and early in the morning. From 8:15 to 8:45, students expressed how a specific Olympic sport secured a place in each of their hearts. Opinions were shared and students collaborated. We interacted with each other, each of us brimming with excitement. There was a buzzing, energetic atmosphere that we could feel, despite being miles away from each other! This event brought us together, tricking us into believing that just for those thirty minutes, we faced each other. It was so heartening to see how each student used their talent, their special way, to express themselves with zeal. For those 30 mins, the world was our oyster. We picked up innovative ways to mold beautiful ideas. Lines were written, each word ringing with ardor for various sports and athletes. Breathtaking pieces of art- depicting support for, and awe of, the Olympic sports. There was an overwhelming flourish of creativity. We were also shown a video of our teachers from the sports faculty, spreading awareness about Olympic Day. We have always looked forward to videos and messages from our teachers and were delighted to receive one on this day too.

One can see how the imaginative minds of students were threads that wove tapestries of enthusiasm! I don’t have words! These pieces of art say it all…

On Olympic Day, we recognized the importance of brotherhood, peace, health, and sportsmanship. And these are the values we like to uphold at CMR too!
