Today, the 21st January 2022. Amidst the current situation of the pandemic. The Pre Primary Department of CMR NPS concluded our “Reading Week ” Program with an “Expert Speaker Session ” where the Primary students of Grade 1 and Grade 2 also joined in.
We had none other than Mrs. Archana Mohan, mother of little Anushka Prasanna of K2 C spend some of her valuable time with the students and make their day enjoyable.
Let me start by introducing our Speaker for the day.
Mrs. Archana Mohan is the co-founder and the head of content at Bookosmia, India’s No.1 creative platform for under 18’s whose contributors are spread across 135+ locations globally. She is the author of the acclaimed “Not That Different”, India’s first comic book. She is also the author of the bestseller “Yaksha”, the first-ever children’s book on reviving Karnataka’s folk theater.
Mrs. Archana is the chief mentor of Trending with Teens not forgetting that she was a journalist at Business Standard newspaper.
Mrs. Archana started the session with a story (puppet show) that brought all the students’ attention and curiosity alive, not to mention us, teachers, as well. She gave the students a small activity to write or draw what they wished they had. Students were excited to share their wishes.
She continued to share the story “I wish I were” written by her colleague Nidhi Mithra, Illustrator – Parvati Pillaiwhich, Publisher – Bookosmia the students thoroughly enjoyed. After which students were asked to write or draw what they are talented at (to showcase their superpowers). It was amazing to see the various responses from students.
The session was then open for discussions. Students asked a few questions to Mrs. Archana & Kaka, the crow.
Mrs. Archana concluded that everyone has different talents. They also need to be happy when their friends do better and never compare themselves with anyone as each one of us is unique.
