“To dance is to be out of yourself. Larger, more beautiful, more powerful… ”

We are back with updates and details of the recently hosted dance competition Footloose 2019 organised by Ekya School ITPL. Students of other CMR institutions and Ekya Schools participated in Footloose in four categories of dance forms such as;

  • Indian classical/ Folk (solo)

  • Western (solo)

  • Folk (group)

  • Western (group)

The theme for western dance category was ‘Be the Change You Want To See.’ All the performances were judged by a panel of three highly experienced and skilled dancers. It was an honour to have the judges present and hearing their valuable opinions about the performances.

The audience was marvelled at the grace and sheer talent displayed by all the dancers. Ranging from soft tiptoes on mellow tunes to exhilarating group performances, we witnessed it all. And, weren’t we amazed!

From our school, students of grade 9 to 12 participated in this much-awaited fest. They put up a fantastic show, and bagged prizes in 2 categories: Indian classical (solo) won by Tejaswini M of grade 11; and Indian classical (group) first prize won by Varsha Balamurli, Aparna Ganesh, Swathi Rupali, KU Lakshmi, Tejaswini M, Aditi Subramanian, Medha Sreenivasan and Ananya Avvaru.

It was a proud moment for our winners to receive certificates and words of appreciation from judges of such high calibre. We congratulate all our winners, and look forward to seeing more students excel in the performing arts arena!
