The annual reading week was held last month at CMRNPS. The event was packed with activities that make children understand the value of reading. The reading week commenced with the inauguration of the Scholastic Bookfair and the various activities held were book cover making, bookmark making, novel brochures, Stop read drop and street play. Street plays were the icing on the cake as kids enjoyed it with great enthusiasm. Finally, children were awarded prizes for their extraordinary work by the chief guest Ms. Kavita Mandana, a renowned writer.

Stories at Reading Week that captured our Imagination….

The scene was nothing less than a forest when Ms. Ramya Srinidhi’s did the storytelling at the auditorium. The hissing of snakes, howling of wolves and the creaking of crickets filled the auditorium and the fourth-floor corridors. The students of Grade 1-4 were engaged in Ms. Ramya Srinidhi’s storytelling, as they imitated the different characters in her story of ‘Babloo’, a very curious bear who was much like the children. The children were spellbound listening to the adaptation from ‘The Naughty Bear’ by Mr. Rao as well as other stories. It seemed like they climbed the Deodar trees along with ‘Babloo- “Paw, paw, teeth”. This enthralling session on storytelling was arranged as part of the Reading Week to encourage and inculcate a reading habit in the children.
