Tongue twisters are interesting and fun. Who would not like to try out a tongue twister! The first tongue twister received its inspiration from a songwriter by the name of Terry in the early 1900s who composed the following lines based on the life of a paleontologist named Marry Anning.
She sells seashells on the seashore,
The shells she sells are seashells, I’m sure,
For if she sells seashells on the seashore,
Then I’m sure she sells seashore shells.’
A tongue twister is a specific sequence of words, repeated rapidly to make it more interesting and challenging. It is not how fast we can put it forward, but how clear we are! Tongue twisters are believed to be a part of articulation exercises.
There are a thousand tongue twisters out there, but the very thought of tongue twister will remind us of the following two famous tongue twisters:
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
He would chuck, he would, as much as he could, and chuck as much wood,
as a woodchuck would if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
Betty bought a bit of butter.
But the butter Betty bought was bitter.
so Betty bought a better butter,
and it was better than the butter Betty bought before.
Tongue twisters are challenging and quite difficult because they come with unusual word composition. The following is the difficult tongue twister according to the Guinness book of records.

Tongue twisters are made for fun, on the contrary, they are articulated by professional speakers to improve one’s speaking skills. Understanding the importance of tongue twisters, we at CMR conducted an activity on the 1st of February 2022. The prime focus of this activity is to enable students to compose their tongue twisters. The students were also encouraged to challenge their peers with the tongue twisters which they had composed. It was a fun-filled and interactive session. The following are the snippets of the event that was conducted.
