“Before I start rambling on about how my experience was, I would like to take this moment and thank the school for giving the students a chance to be interns and get a taste of the outside work life.
My 4 weeks at the Goobes Book Republic was a rise and grind moment. I had to commute for 30 minutes every day to my 9 to 5 job. It felt weird at first. You know, coming out of the comfort of your bed and working a job that entails a lot of dedication to work from 9 to 5.
Working with Mr. Ravi Menzes was a delight. He is a very knowledgeable man. He has taught me a lot of things about managing a bookstore and about various authors who were unknown to me. Working at the bookstore definitely rekindled my love for reading books. While working in a store you meet a lot of different people and learn new things every day. I realized my potential at being a good people’s person through working at the bookstore.
My fellow interns, Nithila G, and Vithur Varenya are amazing people. Together we divided our work and got things done fast. We impressed Mr. Ravi with our ability to finish our given assignments quickly and with perfection. One such instance that we take much pride upon; is the organization of the literature fiction rows. It took us nearly 48 hours to completely organize it. We were so happy when we looked at our hard work in front of us, all neatly stacked up and easily accessible.
It is safe to say that these 4 weeks were the best ones in my life. If through this I have inspired people to go ahead and intern for any organization/establishment, then my purpose here is fulfilled.
Go out and learn something new, it’s worth it.
