Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you’ll make as a parent. You’ve probably visited a few schools, spoken to other parents, and done your research. But something still feels unsettled.
That’s because what you’re really looking for isn’t in a brochure. You’re looking for a place where your child will genuinely belong.
For many families in Kalyan Nagar and HRBR Layout, that place has a name. It’s CMR National Public School.
A School With 35 Years of Trust
In 1990, Mr. K.C. Ramamurthy, a retired IPS officer and his wife Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy founded the school. It began in a guava orchard with three rooms and six students. It is now a full-fledged K-12 school, part of the CMR Jnanadhara Trust which was founded in memory of Shri Chikka Muniyappa Reddy, a visionary of quality education for all children.
The CMR Group has since grown to eleven campuses in Bangalore, a university, Ekya Schools, and an international partnership in Singapore. The founding idea has never changed.
“We were building a family, a community. That first year was very exciting, everybody contributed, everyone worked together.” — Dr Sabitha Ramamurthy, Co-Founder
What Makes This School Different
Many schools in north Bangalore offer academics. This one offers something more of a learning environment designed around the whole child.
The CBSE curriculum runs from Montessori (age 2.5+) through to Grade XII, all on a single campus. Key features include:
- A Montessori programme with five multi-age environments and a discovery-based approach
- A no-homework, no-textbook policy in Grades I to V, with project-based and activity-based learning
- Fully equipped science labs where every student conducts their own experiments in senior school.
- 20+ student organisations, after-school sports, and performing arts — part of the regular school day, not extras
What Parents and Alumni Say
“The teachers played a key role in my child’s overall growth. [3] There were so many opportunities to participate and explore beyond the curriculum.” — Mr Manish Thakur, Parent of a Grade 12 student
“Both my children look forward to every session — academics, storytelling, art.” — Dr Niharika Gupta, Parent of Montessori students
“CMR will always be like home to me. Once a CMRite, always a CMRite.” — Smriti Easwar, Alumna, Batch of 2018
A Community That Keeps Coming Back
You can tell a lot about a school by one thing when parents who were once students return with their own children. That is not a marketing claim. That is trust built over a lifetime.
Families from HRBR Layout, Kalyan Nagar, and across north-east Bangalore have been walking through this gate for more than 35 years. Not because there are no other options. Because once they found this place, they stopped looking.
The Decision That Does Not Need to Be Second-Guessed
There’s always some uncertainty when making most of the choices in school. The feeling that, perhaps, another school might have been more appropriate. It’s not something that occurs very often here.
A child does not adapt, but rather begins to become when he or she can no longer be adapted to a place that is familiar to the child. Relationships with friends are deeper. Learning continues beyond this. It isn’t an act of confidence, it’s a matter of confidence.
That’s the carefully-observed 35-year result of that. Not a larger campus! Not more of a list of accomplishments. Only children, who know who they are, when they leave here.
