“I choose NOT to place a ‘DIS’ in my ability.” A flabbergasting quote told by Robert M. Hensel has been proved by so many heartening people! Hellen Keller, Arunima Sinha, Deepa Malik, and uncountable others!
On this good note, class 8B began their assembly. Arun and Aditthi were the anchors of our assembly. Our assembly began with a prayer. After which we had a thought for the day by Sowjanya. “No disability or dictionary out there can prove what your true identity is!” These are some true and powerful words Sowjanya said. Then, the news of the day was told by Pranav T.

Following this, we had a teacher’s talk by our class teacher, Mrs.Neha ma’am. Her talk consisted of those brave personalities who chose to rise despite being differently abled. Hellen Keller, Deepa Malik, and Murlikant Petkar were some examples quoted by her. “Thanks to the US Democratic National Committee for coining the term ‘differently abled.” A big round of applause for Neha ma’am for that enlightening speech. Up next, Paran gave a student talk. He quoted the great ones with disabilities which consisted of learning disabilities like that of Stephen Hawking. Thanks to Paran for that talk.

After this talk, the class of 8B who had worked immensely hard on their assembly presented a small skit on ‘disabilities don’t define your abilities, but your willpower does.’ The skit’s story went this way: A young teen was planning to participate in a local marathon hosted in his colony. But unfortunately, Sanjay, the young guy gets involved in a car accident which leads to the amputation of his right leg. With no hope at all, Sanjay gets bullied and called names. But with the consistent support of his friend, Varun, Sanjay goes to see the differently abled people playing on the ground. With this, Sanjay feels more energetic than he’s ever felt and makes it to the marathon despite coming last, he finishes it and proves that nothing is impossible.

The actors played their parts on stage while the narrators and voice-overs did theirs. After this strong story, a vote of thanks was conducted by Punam. A big thank you to the Head of school and Swapna ma’am for giving us this opportunity, and also we express our gratitude towards Neha ma’am, our class teacher who guided us throughout and made this assembly a success! Lastly, to conclude, Neha ma’am and our classmate, Prabhdeep sang a song that was originally sung by many differently-abled people. With this, we finish our assembly and put forward a message: “NO DISABILITY CAN EVER DEFINE WHO YOU TRULY ARE!” Thank you!

Punam Ajit Shenvi,
8B
