The students of CMR NPS celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with pride and enthusiasm. We started the day by hoisting the Indian Flag by our Head of School, Mrs. Swati Soni which was followed by a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem by our choir. We paid our tribute to the brave freedom fighter who sacrified their lives for the freedom of our country.

Our Head Girl, Adithi Rajesh, and Head Boy Paritosh Gowda addressed the audience about Independence Day. They spoke about our responsibilities towards our country as citizens of this nation. They also shared few lines from a poem of Sri Rabindranath Tagore.

“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high

Where knowledge is free

Where the world has not been broken up into fragments

By narrow domestic walls

Where words come out from the depth of truth

Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection

Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way

Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit

Where the mind is led forward by thee

Into ever-widening thought and action

Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.”

This poem once encouraged people to fight for their freedom. This poem still prevails as a beacon of hope and encouragement as we still fight for our freedom from certain evils of society. With the beautiful messages from our Head Girl and Boy, we started our Inter-House Dance Competition with the theme Independence of India.

The dance performances of each house were splendid! Different dance forms, colors everywhere, emotions expressed beautifully and all so coordinated. It was an amazing experience. The audience was amazed to see the participants in their beautiful dresses and the beautifully depicted stories through dance.

The teams gave their best shot and it was time for the results.

  1.  First place – Yellow House
  2. Second place – Blue House
  3. Third place – Red House
  4. Fourth place – Green House.

Our teachers Ms. Radhika and Ms. Aparna sang songs for the audience who cheered them for their performances. With this, the independence day celebrations came to an end. We chanted ” Bharat Mata ki Jai” with pride and happiness in our voices. Everyone left the premises of the school with smiles.

“They can kill me but they can not kill my ideas. They can crush me but they can not crush my spirit. “

-Bhagat Singh.

Wishing all a joyous Happy Independence Day!
